The CORE - Emergency Youth Shelter
[email protected]
Services Offered:
→ Youth Support Navigators (for youth ages 12 - 24)
- The Youth Support Navigators connect youth with the right support at the right time to help them manage challenges big or small, access community services and supports, and enhance their connection to culture and the community in order to live a healthy lifestyle.
- Rather than just providing referrals, Youth Support Navigators introduce youth to supports and assist them in following through with their appointments. Barriers for vulnerable youth include meeting new people, filling out paperwork, and telling their story over and over again. The Navigators walk alongside clients through intake and referral processes, easing anxieties and eliminating barriers.
- Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm
- Contact: (403)317-1777 or email [email protected]
→ Family Connections (all ages) (this program is only available with a referral from Children’s Services)
- The Family Connections Program works collaboratively with youth, their families and the Ministry of Children’s Services to manage child protection concerns. The program provides individualized family and child centered assessment, counsel and support towards managing child protection concerns. Dependent on family needs, services are provided in Wood’s Homes offices, the community and family homes.
- Family Connections offers assistance by:
- Assisting families to identify what is important to them and what is working well
- Working with the family in the home to address a variety of living and parenting issues
- Coordinating services and locating other community resources
- Family reunification
- Developing and fostering life long familial and cultural connections
- Collaboratively increasing safety and decreasing risk for children and their families
→ Youth Connections: The CORE (for youth ages 12-17)
- Youth Connections: The CORE is a short-term place for young people to stay who are not living at home for various reasons, or who are struggling with family or placement conflict.
- Other programs Wood’s Homes offers within the Lethbridge Community include:
- Family and Natural Supports: This program focuses on strengthening relationships between vulnerable youth and their families with a focus on preventing, reducing and ending homelessness.
- Crisis and Resource Support: Crisis support is available to youth, parents and/or guardians, and community professionals at any time and/or for resource and referral information.
