Family Ties Association helps families, youth, and children become more independent and successful in their lives. Family Ties provides trained and dedicated staff who work in partnership with other professionals to promote the well-being of individuals and families.

Services offered:

  1. Children & Family Services
    1. Back 2 School
      1. A short term service provided for youth as support for unplanned absences from school
    2. Children and Youth Engagement Program
      1. Provides one-to-one support, recreational opportunities, access to community resources and supports and counsel to youth
    3. Transportation Services
      1. A designated driver provides transportation for an identified individual or family from one point to another (9.e., appointments, visitations) as requested by referral source
    4. Skills Development Program
      1. Using the Positive Behavioural Support Model, coordinators will engage all family members and supports to develop a plan that will have functional strategies to not only manage behaviors but promote growth
    5. Family Preservation
      1. Provides planned and tailored interventions and services aimed at strengthening, empowering, supporting and preserving families
    6. Community Asset Groups
      1. Family Ties Association will create groups or use existing community group programs to best meet the needs of the youth in a given community. Opportunities to explore the community, build upon individual strengths, examine relationships with families and peers, promote cultural connections and encourage positive change.

    1. Community Support Aid
      1. Help support children with a developmental disability, facilitating participation in community activities where they would not otherwise be able to participate due to their disability
    2. Therapeutic Professionals
    3. Domestic Supports
    4. Triple P Parenting
      1. Triple P Stepping Stones in a group and individual format. An 8-10 week Positive Parenting Course aimed at empowering parents to learn specific strategies to help manage problem behaviors exhibited by their child with a disability.
    5. Specialized Support
      1. Specialized services for families with a child diagnosed with a severe disability in 2 or more of: behavior, communication, socialization, cognitive, physical/motor development, and self-help/adaptive functioning skills
    6. Hourly Respite
      1. Temporary relief to the primary caregiver from the full care and demands of the child with a disability
    7. In-home Counselling
      1. In-home support provides the individual or family with another option and it gives the counselor another point of information to move families along through the process quicker and more effectively
    8. Behavioral Specialist
    9. Behavioral Educator
      1. Behavioral and developmental support services for families with a child diagnosed with a disability
  3. Clinical, Specialized Services & Trainers
    1. Family Group Conferencing
      1. A process of healing and strategies that will move a family forward in the best interest of the child or children. A coordinated plan is developed that can serve as a guide for the family. Everyone has a role to play and the facilitated process is a proven method of family supportive practices
    2. Intensive Support Services
    3. Restorative Group Conferencing
      1. A program that not only uses Victim Impact to bring understanding to the offender but is also a catalyst for a solid plan for the offender to move forward in a new direction with a new understanding of his or her actions on individuals and society
    4. In-home Counselling
    5. Parenting Assessments
      1. Not only assess the needs of the parents capacity but also provide functional recommendations that will assist a Case Worker with information that will help guide them to how best to support the children and family to the best possible solution
