Mission: Put children and families first as we work to support them in reaching their potential.

Vision: Building the capacity of every individual and family we serve as we work to support them reaching their potential.

Bridges is a people company. All of the individuals who are a part of the organization - including clients, their families and our team - are the heart of what we do.

Services offered:

  1. Inclusive Programming
    1. Every program offered is dynamic, inclusive and unique. The goal is always to provide neurodivergent youth with a place where they feel they belong and are celebrated for being who they are.
  2. Social Skills
    1. Social skills training is central to what we do at Bridges. Using the network of community partnerships, we group children strategically with typically developing peer models. The goal is to help strengthen the ability to interpret social cues, understand other people’s intentions and process how and when to respond and interact with others in social situations.
    2. Social skills programs are offered for children and youth ages 5-18
    3. Online registration for age groups is completed at http://bridgesconsulting.ca/socialskills/
  3. Specialty Programs
    1. LEGO Group (6-9 years)
      1. Increased cooperative play, more frequent initiation of social interactions, and improved communication, among other skills
    2. Minecraft Social Skills Group (9-13 years)
      1. Minecraft is one of the most popular video games on the planet. It’s also an amazing tool for building social and communication skills for youth on the autism spectrum and other related conditions. In this group, children work in groups to do hands-on projects and virtual challenges on our secure Minecraft server. Completing these projects helps develop cooperation, compromise, communication and problem-solving skills while building peer relationships.
    3. Dungeons and Dragons Social Skills Group (14-17 years)
      1. Social stories are a powerful way to help teens reduce and learn to control inappropriate behaviors like aggression, tantrums, loud vocalization and other disruptive and socially isolating behaviors. In Dungeons and Dragons, a team of adventurers known as a party, are immersed in social stories, role-playing and events, making the game an ideal tool for social skills development.

Working together, the groups imagine, design, and role-play a character and rule context from an imaginary universe. This allows them to develop and practice sophisticated skills like empathy negotiation, problem-solving, teamwork and social maneuvering.
