Mission: 5th on 5th works with youth and business to build the bedrock of a strong, abundant community.

Services offered:

  1. Individual Supports
    1. Reach Up
      1. An employment readiness program for individuals with self-identified disabilities. Help participants develop life and employment skills to attain and retain a job that fits them.

Includes one-on-one appointments for employment, as well as life skills training and possible job-shadowing and placement opportunities.

Individuals are eligible if they are 15+ years of age, self-identified with a disability that may limit daily activity, want help finding a job and preparing for work, and are currently unemployed or working less that 20 hours per week

  1. Career Mentoring
    1. Assisting in Community Resources and Employment Services
    2. The career mentor supports youth in navigating community resources and supports, goal-setting, and referrals to internal programs.

The career mentor works one-on-one with people to navigate community resources and teach them life skills

The goal of the career mentor is to help clients gain knowledge in resources that will help them achieve their goals

Individuals are eligible if the are 15-30 years old, are currently unemployed and looking to return to work, are having difficulties accessing community resources, are wanting to start their career but are facing employment barriers, and needing help and don’t know where to start

  1. Classroom-Based
    1. Indigenous Cultures & Employment Training (ICET)
      1. Prioritizes program and employment opportunities for Indigenous youth while providing learning and connection to the different Indigenous cultures in Treaty 7 Territory

ICET youth are eligible to participate in a work experience placement

During the program, youth will receive an allowance equivalent to minimum wage while attending workshops, they will attend workshops for 30 hours a week for 11 weeks

  1. Eligibility:
    1. Ages 15-30
    2. Indigenous background
    3. Facing barriers in unemployment or school
    4. Currently unemployed and looking to return to work or school
    5. Wanting to start career but need help and don't know where to start
    6. Anyone interested in reconciliation work, learning Indigenous history and participating in Indigenous cultural activities
  2. Newcomers Employment Training (NET)
    1. Focuses on life and employment skills for youth who have recently moved to Canada and are struggling to find a job

Newcomers are defined as anyone who has moved to Canada up to 5 years ago.
